Johnnie`s Beef in Elmwood Park

They put more peppers on sandwich then meat. Italian sausage over cook. Sandwich had lost its flavor.

Favorite lemon italian ice. Have only tried their beef once it was good. The ice is my reason for going.

Lifetime fan of the best beef joint in Chicago. It’s the spices that creat the unique flavor. Simply without peer.

The combo is absolutely delicious and so are the French fries! The Italian sausage has an amazing flavor to it. I think it’s a cash only place so make sure to have cash with you. Ok the weekends there’s usually a line but it moves super quick. Will be back for sure

I've eaten at Johnnie's for many years and I love the Italian beef's they serve and the Italian ice. I haven't had an Italian ice better than at Johnnie's and I love coming here on a regular basis. I like how they have a short and sweet menu and there are lines regularly out the door which just shows how good they really are. They are open during the lock down which is an added benefit.

One of my favorite foods of all time. Beef, dipped, hot peppers and an italian ice. I am writing a review just because this place deserves the love.

Always great ! Best Italian ice. It's the same as it was in the 1970"s ! Worth the wait in line. Sausage grilled over charcoal ! So good 😀 Cash only!

This was my first time trying the beef sandwich! It was very moist and the sweet peppers are a great attention. The line was not long and I liked the little out door area. Personally, I would have liked the beef to have more flavor as the beef alone was just okay. Finally, and most importantly, THE MAKE THE MOST DELICIOUS ITALIAN ICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! THAT ALONE IS WORTH THE TRIP.

The food is delish, but the Italian ice is amazing! The ONLY downsides to this place is the line (which actually goes pretty fast) and the number of tables outside. But very much worth it!

Oh Johnnie's how much I love thou. I've been eatting here since I was 13, almost 20 years.Tonight being my last trip for who knows how long; moving to the west coast. But thank you for this little touch... I hope you continue to be a staple.

Johnnies is an all time favorite. It's "combo juicy sweet" with some sweet peppers is killer! It all has to be washed down with an home made Italian icy. This place will NOT disappoint. Trust me when I say the line is long for a DAMN good reason. TR OUT!

This place is good for take out. Although you do have an option to eat outdoor patio. In my opinion the Italian ice and food is really good here. The staff are decent, I usually order takeout but the environment, tends to be diverse and most people seem to interacted in a friendly matter. I did notice they had a friendly outdoor security guard.

So so delicious. Best Italian beef in Chicagoland, and probably best fries... Fast and efficient even when you see a line.

Great beefs and excellent fries. And I've been to France so I know good French Fries. Tamales are pretty good too, moist and tasty. Don't expect home made tamales, but they're good for the American taste. Will try the hot dogs next time.
